Mining Week 2024 and MinePro 2024 in my opinion is by far the best and largest metals and mining industry event in Mongolia. I arrived to Ulaanbaatar eight days before the EXPO to conduct meetings with business partners and it quickly turned into joining a great week-end getaway to Gobi Altai mountains with my business mentor, Ganzorig R., The President of MT Group. It was certainly a timeless experience to visit the sacred mountains and thus connect with the Land of Tengri.
Soon the metals and mining EXPO commenced in Nalaikh District, which is about 49 km south-east from the center of Ulaanbaatar. Just to give you an idea of the scale of the event: within Oct. 02 – 05 more than 20,000 guests and representatives from more than 350 organizations and businesses from 20+ countries took part in the Mining Week 2024 and MinePro 2024.
The event was jointly organized and implemented by The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and by the Mongolian National Mining Association.
28 sessions were held, covering such areas as: mining exploration, geology of the critical minerals, procurement and supply policies, responsible mining, as well such important initiatives for Mongolia as Billion Trees initiative. 123 presentations and a lot of panel discussions as well as a number of round tables, including that on the rare earth metals were successfully held.
Day 01, October 02 of Mongolian Mining Week and MinePro 2024 began by the opening ceremony at Khamtyn Chuulga Hall, where Dr. Battsengel G., Chairman of the Board of the Mongolian National Mining Association opened the EXPO.
Following Dr. Battsengel G. opening speech, Speaker of the Parliament Amarbayasgalan D. made the opening remarks. The first session “Inter-Sectoral Integration and Future Trends” was started by the presentation by MP, Tuvaan Ts., Minister of Industry and Mining Resources. The Minister gave thorough overview regarding the State Policy of the Industry and Mineral Resources Sector of Mongolia.
Following the above speeches and presentations, MP Dorjkhand T., First Deputy Prime Minister gave a comprehensive presentation on the state policy, supporting the investment, Environment of Extractive Industry.
MP Odontuya S., Minister of Environment and Climate Change presented her speech on the matters of responsible mining and environmental issues.
The same day at Sanaachilga Hall the 2nd session commenced early afternoon, the panel discussion moderated by Dr. Battsengel G. The matters of Investment environment in the mineral resources sector was widely discussed by the following participants: MP, Tuvaan Ts. Minister of Industry and Natural Resources, MP Dorjkhand T. First Deputy Prime-Minister, Fiona Blyth who is The British Embassador to Mongolia and Corinne Pereira Da Silva who is The France Ambassador to Mongolia.
Due to my schedule I attended two days out of four of the EXPO and it was truly an honor to be invited and participate in Mining Week 2024 and MinePro 2024! Absolutely looking forward to Mining Week 2025!
